2Feet4TB needs YOU.
Often, children under the age of 18 are submitted for treatment at the BCH and consistently come from disadvantaged backgrounds, little resources, and many social obstacles. 2Feet4TB wants to support the BCH pediatric patients by making provisions for a long list of needs.
A simple act of kindness from YOU can make a world of difference for these TB patients.
Dr Juli Switala, a Family Physician at BCH, stresses how much TB patients and families appreciate any support, as it makes them feel that their plight is not forgotten. “These patients often have to spend long periods of time, weeks, sometimes months without their parents who do not always have the financial means to travel to the hospital to visit their children. Some patients arrive in summer wearing flip flops and do not have extra shoes to wear when the seasons change to very wet and cold winters. Long weekends, holidays and Christmas are especially difficult and lonely. Basic items like toiletries are a luxury for these kids, something simple like roll-on deodorant is such a treat for them” says Dr Julian te Riele.
Neal Stacey, founder of 2Feet4TB says: “As a TB survivor it breaks my heart to know that there are many children with TB who’s basic needs are limited, on top of having to deal with a serious infectious disease, that’s really tough.”
“No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted.” We want to honour and thank all of those who have partnered with 2Feet4TB in giving so generously of their time and resources and we appreciate the on-going support.

2Feet4TB aim to raise R15 000 by the end of the year in order to contribute to the specific needs of the Brooklyn Chest Hospital.
